Anatomy of the Soul, by Curt Thompson, M.D.

This is one of the best books I’ve read in years, and I’m recommending it to many clients and friends.  Dr. Thompson is a psychiatrist who proclaims “a new way of understanding and experiencing our life with God, using the language of neuroscience and attachment … as our guide”.  He points out that “our Western world has long emphasized knowledge – factual information and ‘proof’ – over the process of being known by God and others”, leading to more isolation than ever, despite the proliferation of the internet and cell phones and social media.  It is being known and understood (by God and by people close to us) that brings healing and satisfaction.  He also weaves the concept of an integrated mind throughout the book and how to work toward balance of mind, body and soul.  It is in a safe relationship, whether with a spouse, a friend, or a counselor, that healing begins.  It’s difficult to express the depth and breadth of this book in a short blurb, but I hope you will give it a read.
